“I joined as a member at Abertillery in 2016.  I reached a point where I had enough of being overweight and unfit, which contributed to low self-confidence.  The centre has a real sense of community, and I really enjoyed the variation of classes.  My mental health improved significantly, and my confidence started to rise. Over the years I have dropped from 88kg all the way to 58kg making that a 30Kg loss!

“I have always tried to stay fit and healthy, and at 54 I broke my elbow, and my “mature” fitness journey properly began, after finding out I had osteoporosis I decided to get myself in shape. This resulted in several P.T. sessions with Jan Oxemham, who also encouraged me to attend other classes on offer at the BG life sports centres.

“The event was superbly well organised and from my position as a participant worked flawlessly due to the commitment and enthusiasm of staff and volunteers. Everybody was exceptionally friendly and welcoming which made the event so enjoyable and we were blessed with perfect weather even if it was a little chilly at 8 am when I began the run component. I look forward to the next triathlon and those three Frosty Tredegar Aquathlon s next year.
